Really cool mind-teaser game developed by Chris Davis of Baker College

----Let us know how long it took you to figure it out!!

Petals Around the Rose is an interesting problem solving exercise with dice. You do not need advanced math skills to work on this problem. This site is by Chris Davis of Baker College. He was introduced to "Petals Around the Rose" by Dr. Richard Duke at the University of Michigan. Dr. Duke used to begin each of his gaming/simulation courses with this exercise.

While some students would solve the problem right away, others would struggle all semester. It had taken Dr. Duke well over a year himself, and he would always explain that the smarter you were, the longer it took to figure it out. Rumor has it, it took Bill Gates 1 ½ hours to figure this out.

Remember, once you solve it you become a member of the Fraternity of the Rose and must NEVER divulge its secret to anyone.

Petals Around the Rose Game

BTW, I'm still trying to figure it out!

Got it wrong on the first try, then I got it. Simple. So what happens if the secret is divulged?

Ya can't give it away yet..... but I'm close to going insane at this point.

Time to eat some dinner and vegatate in front of the TV. I guess I'm too "smart" for this game and need some dumbing down.

The hardest part of learning something new is forgetting something old.
Or something like that.....

Dang! Though I had it. I re-entered the previous correct number and got it correct three times in a row.

Then it all went wrong again.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

And my dinner's now sitting cold on the kitchen counter.
