Former Marines.....question

Hey jarheads.

Do any of you all know what the term HUA means? Pronouned like Al PAcino in scent of a woman.

I heard on the radio today some former marines and army guys claiming the term for their respective branches.

One former jarhead said it's an achronym for Heard, Understood, Acknowledged.

Yes or No?

Marines generally fail to appreciate the humor of being referenced as "Jarhead". It distracts them from guarding gates and polishing stuff.

I think that sound has something to do with atrophied verbal skills.

I thought the other branches of the Armed Services stole it from the Air Force.

HUA is Army lingo, not Marine.

The Marine equivalents, depending on your attitude, were more like "ooh rah" or "ah oo".

I served a 2 yr. hitch in the Marine Corp(1967-1969).

I never heard the HUA expression until I saw Pacino's movie. In that film he played a former U. S. Army Lt. Col.

It would be my guess this is an Army term.

Hoo ahh is an Army Ranger term that dates back in an infamous Gangus Khan battle cry. It was originally Hooooorrr ahhh which meant something in another language but I can't recall.

Hoo-ahh is pretty normal Ft. Benning jargon which is also home of the us army ranger school and jump school. Ft. Benning calls itself home of the Hoo-ah.

I'll call a Marine a jarhead, just don't call a Marine a soldier or a sailor.
