You will pour alcohol on a jellyfish sting only once before you know it's a real bad idea. I've been diving and racing catamarans since the mid sixties and the only thing that I have seen that helps is a concoction of meat tenderizer and lidocaine. I surfaced with one stuck between my regulator and the back of my head once. I saw another fellow surface with one on his head. :( Of course, I haven't seen everything, eh? |
Right on, Randy - except I would substitute Bombay Gin for the vodka. :D
I have to put a fair amount of vermouth in to make up for all of those people who think that opening the bottle in the same room as the drink is sufficient... |

Making an ethanol still
For those who want to venture into the world of distilling your own ethanol (vodka):
http://www.moonshine-still.com/ Point by point instructions on how to build a still. This may not be legal in your area so check with the local police :-) first... :D They do not tellyou how to ferment though, but that info is available on the net.many methods depending on what you want your end product to be. |
I like Stoly so cold from the freezer that it looks like frozen maple syrup going into the glass. Not all Vodka is made from potatoes either.

My personal favorite now is Stockholm Kristal, available from Trader Joes and Safeway for about 12.99. Head and shoulders above anything at its price point in smoothness IMHO. I find it comparable or better than Absolute in terms of smoothness, although I havnt tried the Goose to make a comparison. As for drinks, one to one mix with sprite on the rocks is good for me. A splash of cran can make it a little tastier though.
