Another Great EBay Seller Claim

Browsing the 600 Series found one the seller claims to have "bad motor" but does not give a description of the problem other than "buyer should have checked". In the Q & A section someone does ask:
Q: Greetings, What kind of work does the motor need? Any cost estimate? Thanks,georgekallis@cs.com
answered on: Mar-23-05
A: It needs a new motor or a rebuild due to a cracked piston. My estimate was 3500 for a used motor and 1500 labor so about 4500-5000.

I don't feel this is very realistic for a V-12 Thoughts?

The motor in THAT car, assuming "cracked piston" but otherwise a rebuildable core, is probably worth $3500. A good running rebuilt M120? Add, I dunno $10,000???

A new 120 motor from Benz will run around 30K. Rebuilds will still be close to 20K (for a MB rebuilt motor with a warranty). The estimate is totally unreasonable. There is no way that job can be done properly for that amount of money. A lot of techs don't even like to work on those engines. I have only a couple of guys working for me that we give them to. These techs are masochists.

That's what I was thinking - really want one of these for a "weekender car" No other reason just want one - knowing well in advance what the $$'s in maintenance are. My Indy said if I bought a 120 he was closing
