Question: What is a SNOB type personality?

I pride in my persona that I am not selfish, and honor everyone as equal to me, or better.

Why are there people who seem to fulfill a personality as a selfish SNOB. By they way, snob, is defined in the dictionary................

You are asking the question of what is "a SNOB type personality"?

Personally, I don't believe that it is a personality per se, but a character trait.
"A person who believes that money and rank are very important and has contempt for those who he considers inferior."

As to why there are such people in this world, well, that is a deeper question than I can answer. I seem to encounter way too many people today that suffer from the disease of assholism and it is affecting me in a negative way.
As for the snobs that exist, I couldn't care less, provided that their behavior does not negatively impact my existence.

I'd prefer if you asked the question:

"Why do so many people suffer from assholism"?

Now this would be worth of discussion.

In my experience a snob is someone who assumes that one distinction,be it financial, social, religious etc, automatically implies others.

From experience, people I've met who fit the term "SNOB" were "wannabee" social and financial climbers. Most had not achieved near the level of success they seem to exhibit, and many had leveraged their dignity and bank account to dangerous levels in order to maintain their "facade".

Folks I've met who achieved success through hard work and tenacity are pretty down-to-earth and friendly.

I

I'd say that's a fair assessment.

All of you little people out there concern yourselves with the triviality of your miserable lives. Your lives would be much better lived if you'd use me as your model.

Well, some of us must labor for our bread instead of languidly lounging upon silk cushions atop mount Olympus twanging our zither while nude odalisques feed us wine and grapes while their golden tresses brush against your face.

Without reference to the "social" part of the answer, I'm quite curious on how it is possible to judge, from afar, the financial situation and bank account of the purported SNOB??

The reason I posted such a question had nothing to do with anyone on this forum, but does on another MB forum where many of the members claim to own new, or nearly new MBZ. There is a thread devoted to bash people who own and drive older MBZs!

The impression I came away with was snobbery, and disgust. I added my 2 cents worth with my post. It is also the same forum that I got laughed at and told that I was cheap, and a bum, for asking for a car-fax, that if I couldn't afford a car-fax, I couldn't afford a MBZ, this from several of it's members including the moderator!

I have never noticed snobby people here on this Mercedesshop and am glad to be here.

Now, about *******-ism, well, that's another story, and everyone's got one! Ain't that right Brian?

Yep, and living on Long Island dealing with status-crazed parvenus certainly makes me feel like a proctologist.

BB, everybody has one, however, that, in and of itself, does not constitute possessing the disease.

The disease is possessed by all persons who feel that their best interests come before all others, even if others are inconvenienced or abused by their statements and/or actions.

And Carleton is absolutely right; one can feel like a proctologist around here.

Here's a Long Island vignette: Stay at home stepford mom in capri pants{hate'em musta been invented by the devil},one hand leaning against her suv, cellphone in the other chatting away about sheers or some damn thing.

5-6 year old boy tugging away at her shirt, pained look on his face saying,"mom,I gotta go now!!!"

"mom"yells, "not now, can't you see I'm on the phone?"

Yeah...........what the hell would they do without those phones????

I'm not going to be judgmental with regard to their use of the phone. They can live their life any way they want. However, they tend to suffer the disease of assholism when they take their phone into a restaurant and blab on it, or they try to drive their $hitbox simultaneously with blabbing on it, or they use the size of the $hitbox to take specific advantage of traffic situations instead of waiting their proper turn.

I recently had a rather lousy experience with one who suffers badly from assholism. I was driving my Dodge van (about 5K lbs. with a 318 V8). and was about 1000 feet from a red light. I'm coasting the van at about 30 mph and dropping. The limit is 45. There is an Explorer behind me with a classic sufferer. He pulls out into the left lane and passes me to get to the light. But, he doesn't just pass me. He passes and pulls back toward the right lane in a fake sideswipe attempt to let me know that I'm going too slow.

Assholism as its finest. But, it gets better:

I come up behind him at the traffic light and stop about six inches from his rear bumper. He does not like this one bit. He starts to go ballistic inside his $hitbox and actually puts it in reverse and backs it up an inch or two. I suppose he was hoping to hit me and claim that I hit him. But, it did not happen. However, he is getting more upset by the second.

Sufferer of disease now puts $hitbox in Park and gets out of $hitbox. OK, here we go. I reach over for my canister of Pepper Spray. I'm just hoping this ******* comes up to the window of the van. I tell him to get back into his focking $hitbox and get the $hitbox off the GD road. He mouths off some more but does not approach the van. Finally he gets back in the $hitbox and takes off.

There are sufferers everywhere, and, it's getting worse.
