This ad was run...

...in german car magazines a couple of years ago.

Original quote was: "Auch ein Mercedes kann Fahrfreude bringen"

Well, Mercedes missed the opportunity to get back on them. This ad would have been suitable

"Mercedes helps the pleasure of driving whenever we can"

Kind regards
Eberhard

A few years ago I saw a picture taken at a European car show of a T-shirt featuring a large BMW emblem with the caption (in German) "If I wanted to ride in a Mercedes, I'd take a taxi."

Sadly, I never could track down the source.

Sorry but, isn't that one of those Rover P6B 3500's on the back of the flat bed?

That is no BMW.

At the time, BMW presumably still owned Rover.

It is not a BMW...

...but in fact a Rover P6. When the P6 was developed, Rover was independent. Rover was later integrated into British Leyland and thats where desaster began. The Jaguar guys pretty much took care that the following Rover cars like the SD-1 didn't become too upmarket and, for example, did everything possible that the V8 wouldn't end up in the XJ6.

BMW came into the picture much later, the glory days of the P6 were long gone...

I choosed the picture to make a point Would be too much hazzle to find a BMW...

Kind regards
Eberhard
