So you still complaint about the MB quality?

As some of you know I recently purchased a brand new Infiniti G35. So, I got in my car tonight going out for dinner. Turned the key on and there it is --- Service Engine Soon!! My car only has 2,700 miles and the dreaded CEL comes on. What happens to the famous Japanese reliability? The message on my nav said I should not even be driving the car at all, WTF? I went ahead and drove the crap out of it just for spike. As I see it, the car is under warranty and if it breaks, Infiniti has better fix it or I sue them under the lemon law. I am totally pissed!! What a way to start a weekend.

Guess the Japanese product is no better than the German's. If this thing isn't cleared up soon, I will trade it in for a CLK instead. Maybe that's what I should have done to begin with.

So, for those who still complaint about MB quality, I have first hand proof here MB isn't all that bad. My R129 yearly maintenance is still less than $40.

Yeah. But not when the car only has 2,700 miles on the clock. I would expect something like that at 27,000.

Someone has to debug the thing.

If a little CEL bothers you on a new car don't ever buy a boat.

Does it even run badly? It is probably just a computer glitch. Beat a loaner for a couple of days and let the dealer figure it out.

relax man, its a stupid check engine light. Of course they are gonna tell you not to drive it with that on, thats a given. On newer cars something like 80 plus sensors can trigger that light, if you don't like that get an older car without fuel injection. Those G35's are sweet, i'm sure the dealer will fix you up in no time. People get too worked up over nothing now-adays it seems

Guys, it doesn't bother me that much. I am just trying to share with those who constantly complaint about the MB quality. My point is that even as well built as the Infiniti, they still have their issues. Is all.

Hatterasguy, I do have a boat. It's a Maxum 2800. So far it has been pretty much trouble free except the OEM depth finder. But I have a Garmin depth/fish finder so I over look the OEM's inaccuracy.

Hope the dealer will let me have a M35/45 as a loaner. Now that will be sweet

Did it stall out going 65 mph?

Did the HB go flying off ?

Did the spring perch just 'break'?

Did it drive in 'limp-home-mode'?

Did the back window just fall down into the door and not come up?

It drove fine right?

I understand the point you are trying to make...

But you can't say it's poor quality, cuz of a CEL can you?

if you dont put your gas cap back on tightly enough that can cause a CEL light to come one. its part of the "emissions system."

I have 13000mi on my 04 G35 coupe, fully loaded. I have NEVER had one problem with the car. NEVER.

I just lease returned a BMW 530iA, the car failed me multiple times in the first year of "lease"rship, including leaving me completely stranded in shady places far away from home, waiting 3+ hours for a tow truck under contract from BMW serivce.

As for MB's, I love them, but after two engine replacements on my 350SD "rod-bender", I find your claims of German cars being more reliable not convincing at all.

I love MB's, but there's a reason why JD power&assoc. rated Lexus #1 in quality, and Infinity #3, whereas the German marks are somewhere in the #20's.

This thread is pointless.

How anyone could make the assumtion that one maker is better thatn the other based on one car is petty logic.

At least if the Jap car's have a problem there's hope that the dealer can fix it.

LMAO, the coffee maker seems to be calcium clot and it's taking about 2 hours to get a pot of coffee.....really.

Good timing on that one.

Any ideas on how to fix the ol boy? I heard that CLR does the trick.

At work we rejuvenated a drip maker by running a pot of straight vinegar through it followed by a couple of pots of water (to get that awful vinegar smell and taste out). Vinegar will also stink-up the place as it boils. We have iron scale around here and the vinegar dissolves it pretty readily. It oughtta work similarly for calcium, I should imagine. I'll bet somebdoy sells something that works better, but we're cheap.

Next time I'm gonna try some 15% H2O2 (what you get for antiseptic use is like 3%). That stuff oxidizes all kinds of metallic and organic compounds but has no odor of its own, though as it oxidizes organics at high concentration it can release some pretty sharp odors. I'm hoping it would be odor-free on metallic scales. Is there a chemist in the house?
