I'd like to see just how legal it is to be tased simply because you do not get out of a car? Or get off a cell phone?

Seems a bit unfair and cruel to me. It looks like he could have tried to persuade her a bit more, before using the taser.

What was her crime? Refusal to hang up her phone?

Is disobeying a cop a crime, thereby resulting in being tasered?

Holy crap.

After further review, it seems that her crime was having a suspended license, which in Florida is not a felony, therefore the crime is a misdeamenor, which does not require arrest and is up to the officers discretion.

That is torture. I cannot believe I just saw that or that police are allowed to use those on non-violent people. Those things are dangerous if used improperly. That cop should be fired. Florida has the worse cops I have ever met. I will never travel to that state unless absolutely necessary + I will let people know what foul cops they have there every chance I get. Not going to accomplish much I know.

Uh ok. Since when are cops supposed to shoot people for non-violent opposition? I have no problem with Tasers being used by someone trained how to use them properly on a violent criminal.

The point is that beating someone up or using a taser or some other violence is wrong if the person is non-violent and does not seem like they will become violent. The reason is that 1. it is an excessive and unnecessary use of force on a potentially innocent person to accomplish the required task and 2. it is punishment before a judge and jury are even in the picture which circumvents the due process of law and is illegal. Violent force is required if there are no other reasonable alternatives e.g. someone starts punching or kicking or whatever.

that clip is hilarious!!!

What the video "clip" doesn't show is the argument that went on before his back up showed up.
The lady was mouthing off to him, refusing to give him her I.D., calling him a liar, then was ignoring him and called her husband. The cop waited for backup, then removed her from the vehicle. If you had heard the entire conversation you might agree that the lady was a being a total *****.

Take note that in the video he asked her six times to get out of the car, he actually asked her eight times (I've listened to the entire audio file).

I hate cops -but she deserved what she got. All she had to do was give him her ID, and she refused and so on and so on...........

The cop's narrative on why he didn't use pepper spray doesn't hold up. Most average people are going to get nicely submissive with a good spraying and the chances of killing some fat, drugged-up fool with pepper spray is much less than with a taser.

A taser should be used as the last resort prior to the use of a firearm. Way too many cops are getting carried away with these things. I've seen cops talk people down from some fairly wild stuff -- takes a little more time but it's better for them and the perp, IMHO.

What the hell would I know? Wahhll, I did drive cab night shift off and on for years and you'd be amazed at what you deal with in that. Good education, and the women....oh my.

If a law enforcement officer ordered me out of my vehicle, I'd do it....so would you.....most especially at the business end of any weapon/taser/firearm/nightstick. No sympathy here.

I agree she should have listened, it's not like he was asking her for blowjob.

At the same time, he probably overreacted, he was a rookie on a training mission wasn't he?

Just two dumb people who happened to run into each other.
