Entrapment is legal in Canada. Also, it is rare to have someone get off on a technicality because they were questioned without a lawyer or were not read their rights. We don't have the same rights here in Canada you guys do south of the border - which has its pluses and minuses. However, unless they start using Maybachs or SL65s as bait cars I don't think I'm in any danger of being caught like this.

it is by definition a 'trap' set by law enforcement, therefore it is possible to argue entrapment. whether it is or not is rendered moot by the fact that there is no such thing in canada. laws against entrapment protect both liberal and conservative alike not that it makes a difference.

If someone is stealing a car that did not belong to them.....I have no idea how any rational person could call that entrapment...nobody forced them to do it...

But then I'm not a liberal...

perhaps you should familiarize yourself with a dictionary and look up 'rational'; i supplied a reason why this might be considered a trap and hence could be construed as entrapment. while i respect your opinion and your right to disagree with that reason i would submit that your response would be irrational as it seems to disregard the operative, rational argument in my original statement. look up the etymology of liberal while you're at it; you may be surprised.

Well the classic "entrapment" defense is when cops actively go out and try to solicit someone to commit a crime with large sums of money..effectly talking them INTO doing something illegal....parking a car like any other car on a street to be stolen is hardley the same....even if its a desireable car to theives....even if its got cameras in it to prove it with remotely locking doors..to hold the criminals......my point being that there was no active enticement involved there...

No need. Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity done defined it for him: Liberal -- someone who wants to take your money while they're banging your daughter.
