Cayman
No, it is not the tropical island. It's the new Porsche that will be on sales in the U.S. in '06. It really is an awesome looking car. Think I may have found my G35 replacement till I have $$ to buy the real mccoy
Have any of you seen it yet? If so, what your thoughts are?

I think it looks awesome, especially that shot from the side. My only hope is that they are a little bigger inside than a Boxster. I can't really fit comfortably behind the wheel.

Yeah I think the current car is the Cayman S, meaning there'll be a less powerful plain Cayman model later.
It's an interesting car and should make a rather nice alternative to an Audi TT, Nissan 350Z etc. (though presumably you'll need a fair bit more money too). Hmm Boxster or Cayman, Boxster or Cayman . Russ

Let's hope the engineers left enough room in the fenders for turbos and intercoolers.

I think it is going to be a winner. Love those Porsches.

Any of you guys driven one since you last posted here? I talked to someone yesterday who has had one for about a month and loves it.

I can't use it to tow my snowmobile trailer. What a piece of crap.

A fellow instructor was also on the track with one. I had to really push to overtake him with my 944 turbo that is nowhere near stock. He is a very good driver, probably better than I. Only way I could catch him was on the straights where my power advantage manifests itself. When Car and Driver tested one at Road Atlanta, they did laps in the 1:44 range. That is very good for a street car. I suspect they had a factory "hot shoe" driving it. Great car.

The Caymen has been on US roads for about a year - I've seen a few of them.

I like the Cayman. It's a more classic Porsche in concept than the 911, which I think has become a bloated Americanized caricature of itself. Now if Porsche could actually produce one at a pricepoint that's more in line with the 350Z...

Why buy a 911 indeed.
Very nice looking car.

I did upset a friend of mine, who owns a '02 911 turbo, when I told him the Cayman was the perfect design for a 911. But I have to say the new 911 turbo doesn't look bad, a bid outdated maybe...
