New paint....Bird crap holes...?

I have just got an Alfa back from the paint shop....left it out side during the day.....today, noticed bird poop on the hood and trunk....wiped it of very careful....there's craters now, in the paint surface !

What do you use to protect paint from this being eaten away by this poop ?

This is solid red with no clear coat finish.

How to exterminate birds from nesting in the eves of my shop ?
Return every year....need to put a gap in their gene pool.

BTW....birds don't like flying...Why ? ..'cose they always take a dump as they take off from the roof....I think they are scared of hights.

Answers on a post card please. ;)

Mostly sparrows, but occasional starling.

Need to kill off one generation... :rifle: :uzi: ...memory gap. :D

Don't matter where I park they always poop on the paint.

The trick is to wipe the crap off as soon as you see it. The longer it sits and bakes the more damage will be done.

If birds tend to sit above you car you could try a .22 that would solve the problem! :D

Okay...so I sit out all day/night with a scatter gun...right ?

I busted up their nest in the overhang...16 feet up....one egg and a naked bird hit the ground....looked like a starling .....brown spotted sky blue egg....to stop them needs a deterent, like a gene pool gap, like I said...they nest same place every year...

So what stops bird poop eating away the paint surface ?

I noticed the only time I get the corrosion is when I dont have a thick coat of wax or two, I use meguiars liquid wax, and the showcar glaze, usually the polish too if i'm not too tired after all that. I assume it porbably wasn't waxed since you just got it back. That might do it. Plus, a clearcoat sure helps a lot, I've noticed on new cars that people i know own, there's no holes or marks.

Trouble is...it's new paint...I think I need to let it harden for a few weeks. :)

Anyone know how long paint takes to harden nowadays ?

Don't even think about touching it for at least a couple weeks, 4 before any waxing.

Speculating here.

I'd guess what screws-up paint is nitrate salts or ammonium salts, since both are produced in abundance in bird poop. I wonder if you could buffer them with HNaCO3 a pretty good buffer. Pour the old 'Arm and Hammer' into the dispenser on your hose applicator and let fly. Just guessing. Is there a chemist in the house?

Sounds like you need a pet snake.

Kid+Pellet Rifle + $1.00 A bird = no more birdies.

Or string tight fishing line across their perch.
