Over $10,000 for a Hot Wheels car?

Look at this eBay link. An ugly little Hot Wheels T-bird sold for almost $11,000! What am I missing here?

Amazing!

I remember reading an article a few years ago about a guy who was on the verge of completing a $7K transaction with a Hot Wheels collector...

...apparently, he managed to get ahold of a one-off VW Bus with a roof rack and surf boards that Mattel never released publicly...belonged to a former Mattel Hot Wheels engineer.

Any "Beanie Babies" hit that target yet on ebay?

I must admit that I have been know to linger during strolls down the toy department aisles, eyeing the carded Hot Wheels/Matchbox toys, checking out if they still sell the ones I used to have. I may have to go buy that Speed Racer Mach 5 yet.

That's one of the Painted over Chrome ones.

Highly desirable.

Kind of like an old $20 gold piece with the Carson City mint mark. Not just another $20.

Stuff is worth what people are willing to pay. $20 to one person is $100K to someone else.

If I could afford that particular Hot Wheel, I'd keep it with my "Princess" Beany Baby, if I could afford one of them too.

I was looking at that. It's amazing, if you want to spend the time, you can add up exactly what he has spent on those, on E-Bay anyway. I clicked on a few of them. Some around $50, others $6, 7, 8 hundred, a couple $thousand plus. Must have inherited a few million or twenty or two hundred. What a trip....
