Aruba girl

Seeing as how BHD was being amazingly civil I decided not to steal his thread.

It's a bummer when someone goes missing/dies. But how come "the news" only cares when they are good looking and white?

How many kids do you 'spose are missing right now in America and we have to spend how much air time on this one?

There may be a few missing but they aren't as pretty so they don't get the air time. That's how the media works.

Works?

I don't know if I'd choose the word works. Maybe.....manipulates?

I think I will refer to it as being Ram(sey)ed from now on.

Well its the ones who are pretty and have a mom and dad with the Bucks to send them to Aruba on their own at that age....from what info that has been on the news so far the girl was brutally stupid.....probibly from having a priveledged childhood. What normal girl will go get drunk with a group of men in a foriegn country she doesn't know from Jaack......

I suspect she is not as innocent as she is being portrayed.....now I am not saying this isn't sad , all I am saying is her own actions might have put her in this situation.

Duuuh.

1. The majority of people in this country are white.

2. The majority of money in this country is held by white people.

3. Everybody is attracted to young, attractive people. That's why they are called, "attractive".

The sad thing is there are many people who live off the crest of media information. To them it is the real world, it confirms their fears, it encourages their anger, it erks them on when they are sad, its life for a lot of them. They never stop once to think wait a minute is this blonde girl the only American girl missing today? Is Michael Jackson the only child molester out there? Are Aniston and Pitt the only couple breaking up today or involved in a love traingle? Is Kidman the only person getting stalked? They don't because when you do start to think like this the media begins to look like a farce, a facade.

Jeez Yal, give it a rest. So what if folks live shallow little lives? Imagine how unpleasant it would be if everybdoy sat around wringing their hands over every little perceived social travesty and injustice.

Oh wait, they do.

Nevermind.

There's another story to be told about her dissappearance which people may or may not be aware of. For those of you who have kids specifically daughters in the early teenage years, have you taken them on vacation to Central America, Caribbean or Mexico?

The point being is that the people there including the "helpful" hotel employees and or other locals who are more or less stuck where they are. They prey upon the younger girls there that are impressionable and disappear as soon as parents show up. They selectively pick the most vulnerable people and go after them agressively buying them drinks etc.

Has anyone run into this sort of problem on a trip to the tropics?

The Tropics? Sounds like me at spring break 15 years ago. :D

I wasn't referring to the other spring break-ers :)

I was pointing out sexual assault by the locals....which sadly is more than likely what happened to her.

I think she was out partying with them..was being a tease like some women are.....led these guys a little too far by the time she realised it...and unfortunately these guys weren't the type to laugh it off.....

But then I wonder if we will ever really know for certain what happened.

Doesn’t the core issue boil down to the fact that most folks want to be entertained and don’t really GAS about notable issues? Isn’t this the functional premise upon which our democracy is based and the core reason behind most of our culture's problems…

That's the way I would say it, too, Tracy.

Here's the way they would say it, "I don't care about politics and stuff, they're all dishonest anyway. Nobody understands the UN and all those other countries. I mean you know, why don't they all just get along? I like keeping up with the stars and celebs. They are so beautiful, I wish I could be like Paris or Angelina or Brad. Not Michael Jackson, he's too weird but I like his songs and he sure can dance, too."
