I was enjoying reading about the great MBZ's in the movies, but I did not see anyone mention the one 560SEL that Tom Hanks and Melanie Griffith got into trouble with in "Bonfire of the Vanities".

Which brings me to another thing that I have wanted to say here for a long time. Merecedes has a reputation not just for reliabilithy and safety but for UNDERSTATEMENT! I read about you guys who drive your Mercedes Mods and that think you have to shove it other peoples faces. True class does not brag.

I actually saw a vanith licence plate on a Benz that said "MERCEDES". DUH!!! What a waste of money!

If Zen Buddism has taught me one thing it is this, "I know I have a Benz and they know it too." If you start bragging about it or talking about or shoving in people's face, you then become a Wally; especially to the girls.

+++ The Exorsist +++

I hope nodody mentioned this one....

I rented The Exorsist and low and behold; mercedes, mercedes, mercedes.

There is an SL, a 600 at the party and a 108/109 near the end, all in pistine condition. Remember this film was released in 1973 so all car are new..... exept for a 60's "S"coupe parked at the curb.

Go out and rent it, it's realy worth it.

Dan

Yes, forget Max VonSydow and projectile vomiting with Linda Blair. I never thought The Exorcist was all that scary anyway. I'll have to check it out again for the cars.

There's another Mercedes you can't SEE in the movie. The demon voice was performed by actress Mercedes McCambridge.

In the 1977 movie 'The Driver' starring Ryan O'Neal, that's a W108 (250S/280S?) he totally trashes, while demonstrating his driving skills in an underground parking garage.

Happy Motoring, Mark

The rookie

clint eastwood movie with charlie sheen....near the end, watched a R107 MB get sprayed by a machine gun and then Eastwoord and Sheen drive out of the upper floor of an exploding garage in what looks like a R129 MB!

once they come to a stop after some flying with the R129, Eastwood makes the comment: "engineered like no other car".
