I'm in the market for a beater truck....

I know that there exists a rabid Ford vs. Chevy truck crowd, and others prefer Dodge but what about the Japanese trucks? I need a beater truck, no more than ~$8,000 for it. What can I expect to find? I know nothing about trucks or payload or towing capacity...go Diesel?

You can afford to pay $8,000 for a beater? Must be nice.

What are you going to do with the truck?

Diesels are nice, but only if you are going to give it regular use.

Toyota T-100 or a high mileage Tundra.

You can't go wrong with any used Toyota truck, they will last.
Also, you could get a new Tacoma for around $10,500 with no options.

There is a Top Gear segment that shows a Toyota pick up that was abused yet still ran. Pretty amazing.

I agree not many people here would classify an $8,000 vehicle a beater.

This is a 1987 GMC Sierra 3/4 Ton 4 wheel drive diesel. Has A/C. I bought it with 67,000 original miles (fully documented) about 5 years ago....

I paid $5,000 for it.

its the only picture I have awailible to post...the white one in the background obviously.

My beater cost $900 and has a field mouse living in it... :P This week, I will sell it to you for $8000, not a penny less.

You can't beat a Toyota as a beater...

dtf 06-17-2005 09:35 PM

Ok, Ok, so maybe 'beater' isn't the right word for the truck I need  It's gotta keep the wife happy sitting in the driveway too ya' know. The Tundra always impressed me. I will most likely use it as the 'dump' vehicle, a job the '94 wagon does now, and use it for some landscaping improvements. When I mentioned 'truck' the wife says get one big enough to tow a boat. I don't want a boat.

I was thinking more like $800 for a beater.

Why buy a beater?

Look no further 'cuz I've got a deal for you.....

What would you pay for a truck that was made in this century, has low miles, and a windshield?

Before you answer, listen to this:

This truck is also white, WHITE, can you believe it?

It has a lovely V6, six on the floor (no column shifters here, oh no!), and 4 wheel drive!!!

Now your saying to yourself...."What makes this truck different from all of the others?" Well I'll tell you! While you see the clunkers driving around like losers on four wheels and tires, my truck comes with FIVE that's right, FIVE wheels AND tires!

Now your saying to me, "Ron Popeil, I can't afford a truck like that, you must want hundreds of thousands of dollars for it."

Well let me tell you this....this truck, including the fifth wheel AND tire, can be yours for only one easy payment of $10250.00!!!!

But! If you act now, I will give you the MercedesShop member discount of telling you the reserve price in my fabulous live auction!!!!!
