what you mean by coil (condenser)?

These days, with the net, if you can read, you can do just about anything these people do. You just a) need the tools, and b) have to take your time and think it out.

Another important thing to be aware of is the condition of the ducting in your attic. Leaks there will cost you big $$$ and are tough to detect without a visual inspection..unless you feel cold air coming out from around a wall outlet or switchplate.

Leathermang and I know all about thermostats and incorrect wiring diagrams, don't we Greg?

Reminds me of when I got the bright idea to replace my 25 year old original Carrier thermostat with a new fangled digital programable thermostat.

Bought thermostat at big box department store. Went home drank a few Budweiser brews and wired it up. Well it was July and it seemed to work great. It would come on an hour before I got home from work so the house wouldn't be 85 plus degrees when I got home. Winter comes and it works great. I notice that even the heater seems more efficient. Then I got my electric bill. $300 for a 700 sf house that usually ran $85 or so. It turn out the thermostat i Installed was for a gas furnace NOT a heat pump. I was heating my house using only the electric strips. Like a giant toaster. At least I didn't fry the hvac system. Moral of the story: don't drink while you do HVAC work.

hooked up my R22 gauges to my home unit:

Ambient 95-100F
humidity 50%+
thermostat set to 72F
house vent temp 63F

high side 325psi
low side 83psi

how does this sound? unit is cooling but i wonder if i need to add a little R22?
can the vent temp get lower than 63F? my car vent temp can get as low as 41F.
