I live in the south, so I have to drain mine after every use. I get alot of water out of it, and if I'm doing heavy enough work, I may also have to stop and drain it once during the job. Once done, I just kill the power switch, open the petcock, and let it empty. I don't stick around to close it up when it's done emptying.
