Race Across America
For those of you interested, my son Seth is one of the supporting mechanics for Team Mucho Gusto in the 2005 Race Across America or RAAM. RAAM is an absolutely outrageous bicycle race across the United States starting in San Diego and ending up 3000 miles and about eight days later in Atlantic City, New Jersey. They left San Diego yesterday.
20 hours and 43 minutes into the race, Mucho Gusto riders are near Prescott, Arizona 388 miles into the race, 2663 miles from the finish and are averaging 18.76 mph. More about the RAAM can be found here: http://www.raceacrossamerica.org/ More about Team Mucho Gusto here: http://www.teammuchogusto.com/ |
Way to go.
I remember years ago when we lived in Savannah going down to River Street and seeing them cross the finish line. Very impressive feat:). |
Wow, that will be quite an experience for your boy. My very first job was in a bicycle shop repairing bikes in 1970. We used to ride on what was called sew-ups, tires glued to the rims. I stopped riding a few years ago but hope to get back on the saddle. :)
