Judge set bond for alleged prostitute at $1 billion

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- A Columbus judge made sure a woman accused of running two brothels won't be bailed out of jail. He set bond at $1 billion.

Michael Jackson's $3 million bond pales by comparison.

And Kim Freeman is hardly a high-profile figure. Police say she isn't even the top person at the two massage parlors raided Wednesday night.

But assistant prosecutor Greg Peterson said it was feared she would flee if she could post bail, because Freeman and three others accused of being involved in the brothels are from Asia and have extensive connections throughout the United States.

So prosecutors asked Municipal Judge Scott VanDerKarr for a high bond and he chose $1 billion.

To get Freeman out of jail, a bail bondsman or deep-pocketed friend would have to post ten percent of the amount, or $100 million.

The other three women have bond hearings this morning.

Its bogus.....if she was a danger to society or a flight risk they could just refuse bail...

Bernard Ebbers got out on Bail.....and he ruined the lives of thousands with his crimes....

THis person did nothing but pedal some tail.....hardly justifiable compaired to Bernie Ebers crimes.

I forget not everyone has had their lives in turmoil for the last bunch of years thants that that scumbag......

Bernard Ebers was the theif who engineered the 11 billion dollar fraud at Worldcom/MCI, causing thousands to lose their jobs....nearly all to lose masive portions of their 401K programs, some people lost everything.....and many investors to loose their investments. The sort of CEO who should be taken outside the courthouse and shot in the head for his crimes....

Every single employee knew he was a micromanaging SOB....he never made a secret of it.....then pretended to be ignorant of everything on the stand....Thank god the Jury saw through his pathetic lies.

This is absurd. I hope that ridiculous decision is not allowed to stand.

Prostitution should not be illegal in the first place. It is a victimless "crime".

All parties involved get what they want: The hooker gets money, the customer gets sex. End of story. Everyone involved is happy. So where's the victim?.....

It's a moral decision, and a health decision, and neither of these INDIVIDUAL decisions should be made for us by our government.
