how is front/rear track measured?

Is it wheel mounting face to wheel mounting face? Wheel centerline to wheel centerline?

I always thought it was from the outside edge of the tire where it contacts the pavement ot the same point on the opposite side. :confused:

Maybe this should be posted in DD? ;)
