sheet music, where online?

if any of you guys that play could share web sources for sheet music i'd appreciate it... i have all these keyboards and guitars laying around the pad (storing/a friend closed down his recording studio) and i have had an itch to play.. it's been quite a while since i played either instrument but can manage the piano faster.. i think.. also, if you know of any online tutorials that'd be great...

any and all links would be appreciated.. the type of music doesn't really matter but would rather stick with rock'n roll, classical, bluegrass... something along those lines...

play on...

Man! U gotta learn to play by ear!!

Sheet music falls under copyright laws, so I doubt that you can find public sites that will let you do this legally unless you pay some sort of royalty fee.

I have an entire suitcase full of original sheet music -- I have no idea what to do with it.

Check out www.rukind.com. It's all for guitar, but if you say you can manage better on keys, it should be no problem. They have just about every Dead song ever played, and then some.

Hey Ron, what's in the catalog and would you be willing to part with some of it?

Most of it was written by my father, who was a professional jazz guitarist/vocalist, and a prolific song writer. He had toured with Woody Herman and had a trio back in the fifties that played local Chicago clubs and spun out a few 78s. So yeah, this is some old chit that's probably worthless to anyone other than me, but I can't even read it... I'll take another look at it when I get a chance, and let you know if there's anything else in there that may be interesting.

I met Woody at his last show ever in Grand Island, NE. My grandfather toured with him on alto sax and my father worked with Bill Byrne (his 4th tumpet and chief arranger) on a lot of his arranging projects. My father's got a big band out here in Chicago and I sit in on trumpet and guitar with him and a few other acts from time to time. I would be very interested in some of the charts if you'd ever consider parting with them. Shoot me a pm and maybe we could discuss. The old man would flip over something like that.

Wow -- that's pretty cool -- those dudes may have actually known each other! My father always kept me away from the music biz, so I'm sure I couldn't begin to keep up with you, but I'll pull the suitcase out and look through it this weekend (I haven't done so in years). It's a shame for all that stuff to just sit there and rot if it could be put to use somehow. I'll let you know what I find.
