Any Hot rod gurus here? ( non MB)

A friend wants to build his '38 Ford Pickup into something newer. Options start with just boxing the original '38 frame, updating engine, tranny and rear, and front suspension. He is also looking at putting the '38 body on a different frame. I'm looking for information. Has anyone dropped a '37-38 pickup on a different frame? What frame did you use? What problems were there? What frame is the easiest to use for such a swap.
