STOCK TALK: Does anybody know of companies experimenting with new forms of energy ?

I am doing a whole lot of research about new companies that are slowly emerging with new forms of energy. Since OIL is going through the roof people are looking for alternatives. Do you know of any companies that are public or private ??

I have about 10 grand extra and I want to invest it into the wave of the future.....I have to do alot of research first though.

XOM - coal to liquid fuel is experimenting.
It has been my experience that if you purchase say, 1000 shares of XOM when you are 20 yrs old you will have a sizeable chunk of change at 65:).
