Does anybody read books in here ?

I am sure most of you read a book here and there so I am looking for a great suggestion. I can basically read anything except those Danielle Steele type books which are not my thing. Just yesterday I finished reading The Da Vinci Code with pictures and it was a decent book where you need to keep reading or curiosity will kill you. (8 out of 10)

Any suggestions or good book reviews from you guys ?

If you like James Bond movies, you'll find the books are even better. Hard to put them down once you start. Tom Clancy is good too, Without Remorse is one of my favorites. Other than that I read a lot of work related books. I'm sure some of the libertarians on the board would recommend "The road to surfdom" along with me if you want to get into very broad based and non-partisan political topics.

i enjoy Krakauer. have read all books by Harlan Hubbard which i enjoyed tremendously (start with Shanty Boat).. Sons of the Wilderness was also rather good (Charles N. Thompson) so was blue jacket (no idea who wrote it) i hear river of blood is also good.. Kind of reading the walden right now too (Thoreau) along with a couple of others..

Not Without Peril is another good mountain book (Nicholas Howe) ... could be a bit depressing but a good read none the less.

as soon as I find the book about Iraq and Saddam crazyness I'll post the title/author.

Kagan's "Peloponnesian War".
Tanner's, "Ivory-Billed Woodpecker."
Nicolson's "God's Secretaries: The Making of the King James Bible."

Currently rereading KJV of the Holy Bible. Various authors.
Stewart & Mickleson, "Phenomenology"
C.S. Lewis' "Mere Chrisianity."

The last fiction that I enjoyed reading was LeCarre's, "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy."

Bot

PS The best fiction I read comes from this place. Excellent, creative authors unburdened by reality.

Howdy Kamil,
A book that is a little out-dated but still interesting if you have not studied the NSA is "The Puzzle Palace" by James Bamford.

Harold Robbins books are novels about money, power, and sex. Some that I have read are-- Never Love a Stranger, The Adventurers, The Inheritors, The Carpetbaggers, A Stone For Danny Fisher, The Lonely Lady, and The Storyteller. The man has a way of writing that makes you want to keep reading to the end. Lots of foreshadowing and devoting portions of the book to individual characters. The last portion of his novels ties up all the loose ends and leaves you satisfied.

If novels are too long, try a collection of short stories like Tom Bodett's (Motel 6 guy) "Small Comforts" and then meander into his quirky novels about Alaska, like "The End of the Road", "Big Garage on Clearshot" and "The Last Decent Parking Place in North America."

Oh that'll make you feel nice and comfy next time you can't see shore

Crazy stuff.

I'm not a summer reader but during the winter I catch up on Tom Clancy and read whatever the family leaves me for Christmas.

Since you enjoyed The Da Vinci Code, I'll recommend two books of the same genre; Angels and Demons by Dan Brown, and The Rule of Four by Ian Caldwell & Dustin Thomason. For some completely different fiction, The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger was outstanding and utterly unique. If you're looking for some light non-fiction, I thought A Short History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson was fun.

It's been a while since I have started a new book and finished it (one exception is a book by a local talent by the name of Rushton Woodside...a whodunnit book that I found hard to put down). Mostly I like science fiction... Asimov and Heinlein are favorites.

thanks for the suggestions guys....I will be searching HALF.com for all these books. You could never have enough of them so I keep buying and buying.
Can you guys believe how cheap books can be if you look in the right places ? Point click and it arrives at your door--Love it.

I just started reading an advice book called "The Likeability Factor" by Tim Sanders that just came out a few months ago. The book basically tells you how important it is to be "liked" by everyone. It will save your job, marriage, health etc. When I first purchased the book I was a bit skeptical but after reading half of it today I realized how much sense it makes. One of the reasons why I bought this book is because I see and deal with many miserable people on the daily basis. (I hope I don't become like them when I get old ) I just don't understand people sometimes how they can have an attitude all the time. (I work part time as a bank teller while in school).

Anyway, thanks again for all the books. I hope they all come in hardcovers as they are easier to handle and look great on a shelf.

Howdy Kamil,
I looked up James Bamford and found that he has written another book about the NSA called "A Body of Secrets". I think I'll check on that myself.

I just saw it on half.com for 5 bucks plus 3.25 shipping. Can't go wrong since it's a hardcover.
