Help is pouring in from around the world.
 

Dozens of countries are offering money, equipment, oil, and services to help with the Katrina disaster. Articles I've read say the White House has not decided whether to accept any offers.

To me it would seem pretty arrogant to turn anyone away, especially countries we have supported and helped in the past. Isn't that what a "global community" is all about? Should we be paranoid and assume these gifts come with strings attached?

I was actually surprised that even Afghanistan donated 100,000 :eek: :eek:

I'm sure there are "good" reasons for not accepting donations...

Why wouldn't be accept donations ? Is there a reason behind that ? I guess we are just too proud..... :confused:

Kuwait is donating $500mill in oil the only donation I know of that was refused was from Russia and they offered manpower, not money.

As to timely. You participated in the thread "Katrina and the aftermath" where the link for the article regarding foreign aid first appeared. Yet three days later you claim that aid is being refusud and use it as a soapbox to go on about the "f'in moron". So, provide a linkee please as to specific donations being refused. The only one I know of is Russian personnel being turned away. Which makes sense to me since there's not a whole lot of Russian speakers in LA, not to mention they now become mouths to feed and shelter.
