Jerry Rice calls it Quits. Best Ever????

Hi All

In an era of pampered over paid professional sports figures.
Yesterday one of the true greats retired. Jerry Rice was a class act on and off the gridiron. His work ethic was unsurpassed. He holds just about ever offivense record.TD, yards, pass rec. games played etc.
One of the great things about Rice, when he did something spectular for his team their was no dancing in the end zone and chest bumping or spinking of the football. He was a pleasure to watch.
Was he the best of all time? In my humble opionion, Yes.

Happy driving.

Rice was a class act among the few class acts in prof. sports. When I showed up in Northern Cal. in the early 90s, it didn't take long to transfer my allegiance from the Seahawks to the Niners. At last I had a solid team to root for. Damn, the guy was smooth.

Here's to you Jerry.

197 TD's. Not bad for a slow guy. Man he's 6 years my senior. What will I be doing in 6 years?

Best receiver ever, although others have had more talent.

Some people are talking about him being the greatest football player ever, which I find hard to argue for, even though he was my favorite athlete to watch and root for.

Football is such a team sport that it would be hard to say the greatest player ever.

Wide receiver, no doubt. The gap between him and #2(Cris Carter) is appox someone like Mark Claytons or Irving Fryars career. Maybe not but you get the idea.

I think I saw it was like 400 plus catches 30-40TD and 600 yards.

He dominated his position in his sport, better and longer than the equivalent in any other sport.

MArvin Harrison would have to play another 8 years or so to have a chance to catch up to him.

Active Players are bold

HArrison would have to play another 10 years averaging 80 catches to catch him

Highly unlikely. The other stats are gonna be hard to catch as well.
