Pick up roadside trash....sweep streets...community service type jobs...stuff that needs done any high school dropout can do....

Funny I saw a LOT of able bodied looters running around and none of them were 68 year old women...

Most of these people are not senior citizens...and being black is no exemption from work...

being in a wheelchair is ...

Ahhh, the eternal neo-con solution: the poor simply need to work harder to get ahead and solve all their problems.

why should they expect to sit on their butts all day and have the taxpayers support them.

Whats wrong with making them do something for the money?

Nobody has the right to lounge around and mooch of those of us who work for a living.

They are getting help short term...they are being given jobs to earn that money.

What right do they have to money for nothing?

Never mind the fact that someone with a job and a purpose is going to be better off than someone fat and lazy .

What is it with the left and their entitlement mentality.

Not having any money is their first problem.

Not having anything to do is their second biggest problem.

Put em to work.

But hey, if you look at it logically, the people getting the checks either
A) were already on welfare, which means they didnt get their usual end of the month check, hence we are only paying them what they already missed out on (I heard many stayed behind waiting for that check)

B) They are working class and deserve the money to get back on their feet.

Either way, its a win win.

I don't understand this.

I'm NOT a neo-con. Heck, I'm about as far from a neo-con as you can get. But I DO agree that the keep to getting ahead is to work harder. Both in school and in the work-place.

Isn't that what America SHOULD BE about? Hard work and drive is what makes your dreams come true???

That's the way my parents taught me.

Me and Pete are polar opposites on many things but we share a common belief in this subject.

Yea, big whoop as we write off our home loan interest we think that $2000 is too much for someone that had a home and many will face the wrath of much bigger problems. Whats better making them stick around to pick up trash or use the money to get out of the Astrodome? I heard a couple stories of people using the money to own a home, if you ask me its a good bang for the buck. The money is being pumped back into the economy so maybe its a net gain.

I do think that the CCC was a good idea but not in this case. One thing about these people that we seem to forget is that their spirit is broken, although many of them are dirt poor many are working poor with little or no savings. If that $2000 will get them out of that virus den we call the Astrodome think about the health care money that the fed will save. If you ask me if they are going to find a job and buy a house elsewhere lets give them even more.
