Went to check my mail this morning and noticed that my desktop icons are too big.The intire desktop is too wide.On the right side i have a calander, and part of it is off the page on the right side only. Any suggestions?

Start button > Control Pannel >Display >Settings
|
Yup. Somehow your monitor's resolution has been lowered.
|
Even easier, right click on a part of the desktop with no icons or menus on it and click properties. That’ll take you straight to the display settings.
This happens frequently after doing a windows update due to a flaw in some of the video drivers they provide. However ususally in this case the color depth drops to 16, which is kind of scary. |
My PC just had nasty problems and caused a host of issues including turning off Microsoft updates, made removing any programs impossible in Add/Remove amongst a host of other issues.
I purged my PC of a whole bunch uninvited guests last night, who came in and took over! The only way I got back control was to download TrojanHunter Scanner. It's free for a 30 day trial and found trouble my other two virus scanners overlooked. My PC is like new now! |
O.K I changed the resolution from 1024by768 to 800by600 and the screen is too,too big.If i go to 1280by1024 the problem with the screen is o.k BUT the icons did not move and now i have a 1'' blue frame around the desktop.?????????

Sounde like you have a picture as your desk top. Go back to the display and if I remember correctly there should be a option to size the picture to fit the screen. As for the icons, you will have to move them by hand if you had them random. If you had them lined up I believe you can right click on your desk top and sort by type, alpha ... etc
|
I know [size the picture to fit the screen] is in here some place, but i can not find it.
|
If no one posts the answer by tonight, I'll look on my PC when I get home around 2130 CST. I am on a MAC here at work. I thought it was on the same tab where you set what pic you want as your desk top

Thaks David.

Which OS are you running?
Right click on desktop > Properties > Desktop - if you have an image as your desktop, it should be here under 'Position'. You can choose stretch, tile, etc. |

I circled the tab you need to press to get the options. I also circled where the dropdown box is. Press the arrow that poins down and select stretch. Voila,, you should be in business. |
Man, just screwed up a perfectly good picture of a Benz. sigh :D
|
You can see it in the popup tho. Cool Benz! ;)
