Let's do a "what if" so I can make a point. I think it's a good one.
I think it's so good, I'd like to hear from anyone who disagrees.

What if a show like Dateline did a "hatchet job" on George W. Bush?
It wouldn't have to really be a hatchet job, but any honest appraisal of that idiot's
qualifications would prove he's a non-thinking rich man's boy - and that's all.
But what would happen if Dateline did an unflattering portrait of Bush?

I'll tell you what would happen:

The vulgar Pigboy (Rush) would spend at least three hours saying it wasn't true
and he'd offer hours of rebuttal as to why Dateline was lying.

Bill O'Reilly would spend at least an hour on his show saying
it wasn't true and offer rebuttal as to why Dateline was lying.

Sean Hannity would walk all over Alan Colmes for an hour that night,
saying it wasn't true and offer rebuttal as to why Dateline was lying.

Eva Von Zahn would spend at least an hour that night saying it wasn't true
and she'd offer rebuttal as to why Dateline was lying.

The Beltway Boys would spend at least an hour that night saying it
wasn't true and offer rebuttal as to why Dateline was lying.

Brit Hume and Tony Snow would spend at least an hour on Sunday
saying it wasn't true and offer rebuttal as to why Dateline was lying.

Juan Williams and Mara Liason would spend their entire allotted time

John McLaughlin would spend at least an hour on his syndicated show

Ann Coulter would write a book condemning Dateline.
Laura Ingraham would write a book condemning Dateline.
Peggy Noonan would write a book condemning Dateline.
Andrew Sullivan would write a book condemning Dateline.
William Safire would write a book condemning Dateline.

Gee.....goes to show you the lefties can't stand to be proven wrong...even though they are always wrong by choice.

Comedy can be bi-partisan . . . I still laugh out loud at Dennis Miller's rants.

It can be but unfortuanately isn't all that often.

I loved his speech about our undeniable rights, he thinks that the most important one is the right to not be blown up.

I loved his bit on FEMA - "Meet the F***Kers"

We are all getting "dug in" with our differences! We are getting harder shelled with our beliefs and sticktuativeness. I doubt anything said here can change political beliefs, values, based on anything anyone says here, here at Mshop!

So why do any of us try?

I haven't the energy like some here to debate, or argue (more like it here) so I just through in my jabs thinking that what appears obvious may sink in, but it never has (like a 7th grade school kid cutting down his buddies with jabs)

George W. Bush, based on my observation, is little more aware than a seventh grader, or 14 years old, the level of his mentality! The very same mentality the majority of voters have that elected him once! The first time I believe cheated, therefore I do not, and have not, ever conceived him as our president!

The mentality of the people in this time, and place, of our humanity, gullibility, is having it's impact in our time!

The intelligent people of our time have been put in the back seat and there must be a reason, that reason will shine..........just don't know what it is!

Political satire has always been one of my favorite forms of comedy. It must have been those Lenny Bruce and Mort Sahl records, then Vaughn Meader, Walt Kelly, MAD, Rich Little, the Smother's Brothers, Pat Paulson, the National Lampoon, Oliphant, Carlin, Trudeau, SNL, leading into the modern era of Miller and Stewart. It didn't matter what political persuasion was being targeted, it's usually funny except to the administration in place at the time.

A man after me own heart. Stewart is good. I think he's almost knocking on the "next Lenny Bruce or Richard Pryor" level good.

Lot of bigshots in America, right and left, know he's a heavyweight. They flock to his show, and no one gets into some actual debate more deftly, with better arguments, and ending up with better feelings all round, than Stewart. The guys got velvet gloves, but not punch-less velvet gloves.
