They're not union members; they're temp workers employed through Allied Forces/Labor Express by the union—United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW). They're making $6 an hour, with no benefits; it's 104 F, and they're protesting the working conditions inside the new Wal-Mart grocery store.

LOL, but I do admit $8.00 and hour isn't fair. I pay my goobers more than that.

Illegal mexican Day laborers get $100 for an 8 hour day around here...

Well in simplest terms, shouldn't the protestors be union workers.

Although I don't think there is a picketers union :-}

I'll always go back to Irv Cohen (? he wrote Negiotate to Win, and was a presidential negiotator on both sides of the table at various times).

A union is a business, nothing more nothing less.

I'm very anti union, in their time they may have served a purpose solving problems, today "I" think they are the problem.

That could be the most screwed up thing I've ever seen. I mean it's seriously twisted on so many levels.

well thats a bit of both...

I have considered hiring two to clear some brush along the back of my lot...It needs more time and effort than I have...a few hours and my arthritis in my shoulder is screaming at me...and the same with my ankles...

Don't know where I could find two guys who would do an honest days work for just one day I need it....$100 cash for 8 hours work is not a bad wage.....per man.

Its not that I can't but with Chipper rentals at $160 per day....I can't do the work in a day...too much for one person to do.

It's like this.

You have a low-skill job for entry-level education. It pays diddly-squat. Why should a low-skill, entry-level job pay more than diddly-squat?

How much does it take to restock shelves at Walmart? If Americans wont take the jobs, I'll bet that there are any number of Mexicans who would jump at $8/hr and probably do a damn better job than some slack-jawed goofball American teenager.

Some of you have yourselves been broke and out of work. When you're in that circumstance you can eitehr blame others and seek help from gov or you can take what you can get, work your ass off and keep an eye open for otehr prospects.

WTF wants a handout? Broke? get a job. Work hard. Make something of yourself. Or shut up and get the f**K out of the way.

Copps Food Stores had union labor in some departments and not others. Management said to choose one way or the other for all stores and all departments. Union lost. Sore loosers that they are, they got protesters like those mentioned. When lunchtime came, where do you think they got it from? The Copps Deli. Saw them handing out food and eating it carrying the sign "Copps No, Union Yes" and the food bags with Copps written all over it.

I shop at Copps for 2 reasons. #1 it isn't union and the people care there show me where things are more readily than the union chains. #2, they have clean and nice smelling bathrooms
