Windows - turn off whole word highlighting?
 

Can I turn off the feature in Windows that automatically highlights the entire word and trailing spaces? I'm using a borrowed iMac just now and it's really a nice 'throwback' that I can highlight the first 3 letters of a word and not have it automatically highlight the whole word. Is there a setting in Windows (because there's always settings in Windows) to turn off this second guessing feature?

AFAIK that isn’t a an adjustable feature in Windows, but it is adjustable in Word. In Word, go to Tools, then Options, then Edit, and remove the check next to the entry that says “when selecting, select entire word” After that hit okay
