is this this c43 worth?

hi,
i am looking a c43 and i found out one at my local dealer. he has a 1999 c43 with sliver color. the milleages 81k with 16900.00usd. is this worth?
the car looks clean and nice. but i am not sure is it worth for 17k?
also, the dealer offer me

1999 c43 81k milles with 17k usd
1998 e320 78k milles with 15k usd
2000 bmw 528i 60k milles 19k usd

today, i test drive the c43. this car like bullet! awesome! but incldued the sales taxes and extend warranty, its cost me 20,000.00. is it worth? the body condition is good, some rock chips in the front(7 years car, cant expect new car), other that than, the condition is excellent.

which one do you guys suggest? which one has better quality, comfortable and easy to mod?

I would go for the BMW. Don't trust the '98 E320 engines. DOn't know about the AMG.

Build quality easily goes to the Merc. Comfortable? Dunno, would have to drive them. Probably similiar. Fun factor? The C43 is much faster than any of those and handles better than the 528i, though I wouldn't say that if you were looking at a M3 or M5.
hm..look like the MB need alots money to maintain. even it is faster than 528i but..quality also very important because if i spend 20k for c43 and need alots money to fix, my wife will kill me.
lol
but i c43 stock can easy kill a m3. i would go 540.
thx

$17K sounds low for a C43. Check it carefully.

Wow. Check out some of those four digit repair bills! Without the warranty, that would have been a tough car to own.

I wonder what would make it a tough car to own.

It has the same engine and transmission as the E430, which have both proven to be reliable.

The W202 chassis has no major issues, either.

There were 500 something C43's made. Sure, lots of people with first hand experience! It's probably why you never see them in the shop.

The C43 and the C320 / 330i are fairly different cars. Have you decided what you'd like to buy?

You can't compare a C43 to that C36. That C36 is a '97 model, which had the tranny problems. These would have been largely sorted out in the C43. The '97 also had the head gasket problem, which is not existant in the C43's M113 V8. Plus, remember that not all cars are created equal. Many people criticize the reliability of the W210 cars, but we have two of them and both have been bulletproof.

The W202 chassis has no major issues, and the engine is the same basic engine in the E430 and S430, with minor revisions. The tranny is the familiar 722.6. I really don't think the C43 will be troublesome to maintain. By way of comparison, both of the BMWs we owned - although mroe fun to drive- gave us more problems than the W210 cars. I would buy that C43 in a heartbeat.
