Girls Intelligence Agency
Not a porn site....
(LMK if this has been discussed here before) Saw thier 60 minutes blurb the other day - kinda wierded me out. they select the "alpha" females in the 8-14 age range, give them a box full of the latest goodies (hair things, makeup, glasses...fashion accessories...) from their client - then the 8y/o has a slumber party, shows the stuff to her friends and feeds this data back to corporate HQ. Not sure if there is compensation, I dont like the parents on the 60minutes clip either, I was just wondering what the educated minds on msshop thought of this. http://www.girlsintelligenceagency.com/ market research ? exploiting children ? Lousy Parenting ? regulated like other FDA studies ? I dont like it and wouldnt lend any support, but its difficult for me to object on a moral ground - the girls are are not being put on display or abused, nor are they asked to do something they otherwise wouldnt, I must also assume that the parents give permission for this - it should ultimately be the parents choice, but it DOES encourgage kids to use their friends as "means to an end" and not "friends". blah Oh, and its contrary to most of my christian values too, but thats not what I wish to debate here. watch the 60minutes clip if you've never heard of this place. (here I go, trying to start a discussion in OD =) -John

I saw that awhile back. Kinda creepy, but that's because it involves little children. Don't know if it's much different than the way marketers play to all of us. Helping to find what it is that people want instead of creating a want seems OK to me, but little children need to be more pointed to what they need instead of what they may want.
So much of what I think people strive for is just a scam to influence their taste or create needs that are not really necessary, but that is the driving force of how most people live.

Maybe someday they'll grab a bunch of us, and stick us in a room with a bunch of Benz parts. With some luck, we get to keep the parts too
