Interesting references to the pre-WWII hyper inflation - I certainly hope it never happens here. I was in a bar in Koln, Germany in which the walls were papered with pre-WWII inflationary marks - now worthless. Million & Billion marks notes on every square inch of the walls. I also read an actual account of a bank robbery where the robbers dumped all the money out of some baskets and stole the baskets - no joke. Factories used to pay workers at lunch and let them immediately go spend their pay because if they waited until the end of the day the money would be worthless. I wonder if Alan Greenspan would have made any difference?
