Ebay

Ebay I love it I hate it. no where else does it seem I can sell off old stuff for so much and then at the same time cringe when I see other items sell for practialy scrap value or less.

your thoughts on ebay?

I cringe when i see a $400.00 item sell for $1.00 and then realize that the seller probably has to pay ebay $1.25 or more for the privlidge.

.....and then have the buyer leave you neutral feedback because it was not perfect.

That is an interesting point. If I sell two identical items, both fixed price - one has calculated shipping charges one has a fixed shipping fee that is slightly exaggerated - I will sell more with the fixed shipping fee even though it will cost the buyer more. I have almost given up trying to figure ebay buyers (and sellers) out

But that can be taken to too much of an extreme. For instance, a shop work stool lists with buy-it-now for .99 cents. The shipping is $34!.

I prefer the system where I enter my zip code for the actual shipping costs.

rarely will I purchase anything where the shipping costs is not disclosed in one form or another. I have my search results set to display the shipping costs. If the list has a fixed cost I will look at it. If it has "calculate" I will look at it. But if there is no shipping cost listed I will blow right past it (unless it is something I really, really want!).

I've had several very good transactions and a couple of so-so ones. But overall, I did get some great deals that I would not have managed by other means.

My wife got hooked last summer, and I (being the more experienced bidder, by maybe a month or so) got her to quell her emotions when the bidding was down to the last few seconds. She scored a couple of bargains that way, and got them far below outlet prices.

I'm glad she's finished. I would look at my eBay profile one day and see a page of car parts and music gear, come back the next, and the first page was loaded with pics of handbags!!!

Smile

Have been using Ebay for about 4 years, both buying and selling, really love it!

Recently bought a power window regulator, RR, for '92 300E, less motor, for $1.00 + 10.00 shipping, felt guilty! The seller should have set his starting price higher, I would gladly have paid $50.00 for this part. The regulator worked perfectly, saved me a bundle!

Feedback: when you buy something and pay instantly thru Paypal, you should automatically receive positive feedback, period! Right now, if the seller for some reason doesn't ship you the goods and you leave him negative feedback, he will reciprocate and leave you negative feedback. I've complained to Ebay customer service but got some mickey mouse answer.

If you want to educate yourself about anything - just go to the right category and scroll thru the listings, it's amazing what you will learn!

Used Cars: Ebay is now the largest seller of used cars in the world! You can find anything from Certified Preowned to New Orleans submersibles, just do your homework, like Reagan said, "trust, but verify".

Paypal: nothing could be easier and as secure.

Just my two cents!
