another "I don't like M-B's new car designs" thread! A few days ago I saw this M-B that was about the size of an S-class, had a CL(?) nomenclature on it but had four doors, and it was very oval. I really don't know what model it was, but the only thing that gave it away as a M-B was the star emblem I saw on the trunk. What model is this car? It really doesn't look like what I think a M-B should look like! It was just so oval, the shape of the rear, and even down to the side-view mirrors were ovalish (if that's a word). What? oval side mirrors? They were more egg-shaped rather, and the housing wasn't flat looking either. It didn't hit me as a M-B until my curiosity got the best of me and I took a better look. Yep, it's a M-B, but what model?

I have to say that I really like the newest E-class but not really the W211 that preceded it. I still very much like the W124 ('94-'95). My favorite S-class is still the awesome W140, but the newer S-class is growing on me.

You are referring to the new CLS. In human terms, it's like Jesse Ventura in a tux!

The AMG version looks pretty hot (especially in black) with the deep dish rims!

Some folks here have already voiced their displeasure of the CLS in a recent thread, but if I had the disposable income, that black AMG CLS in the showroom would be MINE! Next to the gunmetal grey SL65 of course!

I saw a CLS500 near Toronto on my last trip out that way, looked pretty sweet I thought. If I had the extra $$$ laying around I wouldn't mind one. Looks very coupe like with the convenience of 4 doors.

I saw a CLS500 last week and I think its one of the best looking MB's yet. I think people don't like the new MB's because it makes their old MB's look.....old.

Hahaha...

Hey, now!.... You're going to hurt my 300SD's feelings! ;)

Seriously, the CLS is just about the only new MB design that I DO actually like. It's a nice-looking, fast-looking car. And I love the G Wagen, of course...that's just a "given".

I think the rest of them just look like any other Toyota/Infiniti/Lexus/whatever. The only difference is the star (and the inflated price that goes with it).

I went to the dealer last week to pick up some trim clips and saw an AMG CL65 coupe. I had to walk around to the trunk before I could tell it was a Benz... looked more like a Mustang or something like one. I thought it looked kind of cool though wouldn't mind taking it for a spin

I think the CLS is a very nice looking car. I parked next to a CLS55 the other day when I was getting lunch. Very sharp looking car, I prefer black.

I think the new SL is the best looking SL ever, except for the classics like the Pagoda and Gullwing.

MB really needed this car, their image was getting way too boring. WHen I was in LA i saw about 5 of these cars on the road, at least 2 of them being the AMG versions (or at least up-badged, eh Hatty?). Do they use Monoblocks anymore? I always loved those.
