SRS problem
I have a 2003 C230 Kompressor Coupe that has been in a minor left side collision. I do not intend to replace the side airbags that were activated. Five of the eight remaining bags are good. What can be done to remove the computer screen that displays "1 Malfunction, SRS Restraint System, Visit Workshop"?
Also, does anyone know where to find a SRS wiring diagram for this car? Especially for the small bag tucked away in the headliner. Thanks, Ed |

Quite simply, the lights will no go away unless the "bags" are replaced. Everytime you start the car, it runs a self test, as long as things are wrong, it sends a warning. You could disable and disconnect the entire system, but that would be a bad idea, as then none of your "bags" or for that matter, some of your seltbelt systems would deploy. Just fix it.
DISCLAIMER: While I understand that theoretically it should be possible to "fool" the computer into thinking those bags were intact, that sort of thing is beyond the scope of DIY auto repair. As far as having it done professionally, the aforementioned liability concerns are going to keep almost anyone, and certainly anyone smart enough to do it right, from touching it. MV |
