I'm watching/listening as I type. It does sound pretty cool all right. I'll tell you what though, if that dude narrowly missed me while running a red, I'd a done my best to hustle my little beemer into transporting my fist down his throat. Friggin' unbelievable.

Hell, who am I kidding -- no way I could'a caught him in my beemer.

I'm thinking it had to be staged, with people at every red-light keeping traffic out. Odds are too great he would'a hit someone otherwise. I mean, what, 80 to 100 through some of those lights? Ferrari brakes can't be that good.

Pretty wild.

A family friend bought a 275 spyder for $7200 in 1972. You can google the story about the movie a famous director made the film.

You'd be hard-pressed to find a film as steeped in myth as "C'était un Rendezvous".

For many years enjoyed as an almost Masonic secret among enthusiasts, whisper the words "Have you seen Rendezvous ?" and you'll receive either a knowing, "No, but I've heard it's unbelievable" or a smug, "It is un-be-lieve-able". Filmed in 1976, the revered short film by seminal French director Claude Lelouch is regarded as the ultimate in chase scenes - the connoisseurs' trump card in response to "Bullitt" or "The French Connection". Lack of availability (pirated poor quality VHS copies were being traded at $50 on the internet) has only fueled the myths surrounding the film...

Richard Symons, a documentary film maker with more than a passing interest in fast cars, managed to acquire a very poor 2nd generation VHS copy. He wasn't disappointed…

"I'd never seen anything like it, 9 minutes of adrenalin that simply leaves you with your jaw on the floor. Lelouch was supposedly arrested the first time he'd shown the film and then it simply dived underground. To cut a long story short, I tracked down the director, we dusted down the original 35mm negative, restored and re-mastered it for release - we've brought back all the details and colours and it looks stunning."

Over the years, "C'était un Rendezvous" has come to represent something more than an adrenalin rush. It uniquely captures a time and a spirit that seems a long way away from today. Politically incorrect, anti-establishment and overflowing with a primitive passion - it is everything the bureaucrats hate. Which perhaps explains the cheers and whoops of delight at recent screenings. Lelouchs' brilliant ending only adds to this - making a beautiful sense out of the preceding nine minutes.

That was awesome!!!!!

Loved the sound of him punching the throttle and downshifting in the busier sections!

Pretty exciting justwatching the early morning footage of the car moving though the desolate section of town, but I almost crapped my drawers when he started blazing through areas surrounded by traffic!

That was playing int he museum of fine arts gift shop when I was there a few monthes ago to see some autos owned by R. Lauren....There were 8 guys just standing there mesmerized........the building could have been on fire and I don't think anyone would have left until the end....

That's some documentation Med. My macho saying that I'd a whooped up on him if he narrowly missed me, hell, I run into scenes like that it real time now and within about 5 seconds, I realize what could very likely happen is that in chasing someone like that, I'D probably hit someone and be left saying, "But he...I was....didn't you see that guy that....someone had to...." all the way to the pokey.

Course that's now that I'm a little (emphasize little) more grown up. Once when I was about 30, some kid in a hopped up Chevy cut me off and then flipped me off when I gave him the "WTF!" look so I gave chase in my '76 Rabbit w/ 5 speed (surprisingly fast car) -- he tried to shake me going down allies and stuff, he had more raw speed, but my brakes and handling were better so he couldn't shake me, then he pulls into a gas station, where inexplicably, about 5 of his buddies were hanging out. I jumped out and got in his face hard. Miracle I didn't get jumped, I was crazy mad on adrenaline, plus I was more mature and bigger than the guy so I think they figured as long as I wasn't bangin' on their buddie, they'd let it play out.

Jeez, I'm lucky I didn't get a ticket or worse. I could see getting a couple days in the slammer over that kind of reckless, vigilante driving. Like I said, I'm a little more calm now.

There is a 600 MB version of it on Kazaa it will be called the getaway or rendezvous if you keyword Ferrari you will find it. If someone could download it I could put the full screen dolby version on my server for all to share until I trip my 6 gig limit.

It would be nice if it would be in a format that my windows machine could view, instead of Quicktime. A few years ago, I had a problem with my machine after installing the qt viewer. Ever since then I haven't trusted it.
(once bitten, twice shy, I suppose)
