Question No disrespect..but just curious,

Is this a south Florida , or southern thing ?
I've noticed these stickers on the back of mostly pick up trucks and ricers, and mostly since 9/11...but are these window stickers showing up in any other parts of the country?

"In the memory of...(insert deceaseds' name...and the dates they lived)"
....like a tombstone on the back of the car window.

Again; I just don't get it. To me that's a bit disrespectful to the person who passed away....like people on the road want to see this????

I understand the "Remember the NY Firefighters."; but "Remember Chocolate Vinny"...????? Again no disrespect, but to me this is not the right place for a memoriam.....and who wants to see it?

Lack of taste and decorum know no geographical boundaries.

It happens out here too. (AZ) I don't know. I think it's kinda like biker patches that say "In memory of Spider" etc., just a wider audience. The one I didn't get was the one that said "In memory of Steve P. Miss you big brother. Loud pipes, Big rims" which I would have somehow understood if the car in question looked like Steve's beloved ride of whatever type; but it was a bone stock Toyota...

Markers, decorated with faded plastic flowers, memorializing a traffic death. I never saw those anywhere when I was a kid except in MX. Now they're all over. Is this a custom introduced by our southern neighbors?

Unfortunatly, white trash permeates our society. Look at what's on cable tv. Florida has it's fair share. When my family(from western europe) came to Florida to visit Disney they were horrified. Florida is a cesspool, I wish I could catch the guy who has been stealing my garbage for three years. I am pretty sure it's the hick that lives a few houses down.

WOW. That is SO refreshing to hear.....I am from NYC; and horrified is an accurate word to describe the trash in Florida.........

The trash isn't esclusively white......take a look at the people who were looting New Orleans....

Trash knows no racial bariers. Its equal oportunity.

The "In Memory" stickers on rear windows isn't a geographic thing, we have them out here. There was an article in the newspaper about them. It turns out that they are the result of improvements in the sign printing business. With the advent of computer controlled die cut equipment, sign makers have been promoting the rear window decals.

While some have called me trash, I don't agree with them.

Generalizing comes to mind when I hear that.

Having said that, one of my pet peeves is seeing someone using their car as a memorial to a deceased person.

That and putting an ad in the obituaries on the anniversary of their death.

Dear Bonehead, it's been a year since you passed, etc...."

They get the paper in the afterlife? Never crossed my mind.

As far as roadside memorials go, there was a girl a couple of years ago, who was visiting the site of her friends death, and got run over. There are a hazard that should not be allowed. Unfortunately, the state allows it here and actually will sell you a plaque.

Whatever happened to visiting the grave site? Why the place they died?

Had they passed in a bathroom, would they have a memorial in a restaurant?

We passed one a few weeks ago that was so adorned with balloons that my friend asked" where's the party?" in the middle of the hwy.

to roadside memorials.

I have never seen the memorial type stickers here in Texas.

Having the family name in fancy scroll plastered on the rear window of a pickup is popular among the vatos around here though.
