Wagon ideas
Right now I'm in the market for a nice wagon. While a 123 wagon with a turbo (I believe 81-85) would be most desireable, they are a tad hard to come by. Any other good wagons made I should look at? I'd like to use it for a mobile detailing business.

what is your budget?

I'd like to keep it under $4000.

Expect to be patient to find a decent example in that price range....and don't end up jumping at the first heap that comes your way....The wagons bring a higher price than the Sedans or coupes do.

Have you considered a Subaru wagon?

Tad small. If I can't find the 300TD I want, I'll probably find a nice Volvo wagon. Any decent domestics out there I am overlooking?

300TD.
Took me about six months to find mine at $3200 with 135k miles. Dealer had mistyped the number on the internet ad by a couple of grand but once it went out at that price, had to sell it at that price. Dealer also thought the mileage was inaccurate but I found paperwork in the car confirming the mileage. Sometimes you get lucky. Patience helps. If you can live without a turbo, the 79-80 models sometimes bring a lower price. At altitude, I couldn't live without a turbo. Use oodle to see if you can find one off the beaten track. Or, wait for the cold weather. Someone in a northern clime will want to rid themselves of one once the bad glow plug stops it from starting below freezing. |
