Coooooooooold weather gear.

Since the brrrrrrrrr is here I'm going to let you guys in on a little secret. Most people that venture out for hours in the bite of winter are active and can keep warm with average clothing but I sit or move slowly hours on end. Sitting will create a chill faster than a Walmart opening on Black Friday so i've developed some pretty good systems for the extreme chill. When Coyote hunting at night during the winter the 5 degree temps and wind cut through just about anything.

First and foremost Patagonia Puff Ball wear is by far the best system I've found I can sit in sub zero and high winds for hours and feel like I have a furnace in my pants. I top that off with a Patagonia Guide Parka and Patagonia expedition hat and Gates gloves. I haven't found a pair of boots that meet the test but Lacrosse icemans with warmers does the trick the warmers last about 8 hours, I'm going to experiment with the rocky electric warmers this year.

When it's really, really cold, I put on a flannel shirt. Excuse me, I'm going outside to pick some oranges for breakfast.

Strange as it may seem MedMech when I lived in Alaska we used to put on a set of Helly Hanson rain gear over our bib overalls. Rain trousers and rain coat. This stuff kept the wind out and we were real warm.
