Any mouse hunters here?

When I was down in Florida we went mouse hunting. We would put a piece of cheese on the floor of a warehouse and wait for the mice to come out, when they do we try to run them down with remote control 4X4 trucks and the kids play sniper with BB guns, we would let them use .22s but a pellet rifle is the max I will put in the hands of a 2 year old. Over the course of a half dozen hunts we've only lost one eye.

After the hunt we skin the mice and have a party.

If you know anything about mice it's that peanut butter is way more effective than the fabled cheese so you must have had some really naive rodents.I do know several toddlers well versed in the proper handling of Sheridan air .22's but how did you skin the nice?

When my sister and I were little kids we used to take the pellet rifle and a flashlight to shine mice in the grainerys. Good sport and it turned my sister into a deadly shot.

Lived in the country for several years.

Every fall the mice wanted to set-up cohabitation.

Mostly my cats took care of them.

Sometimes a trap would do the job.

Once I set-up all night with a cheap-ass (saturday night special) .22 with rat shot in all 6 cylinders to shoot a lil' mofo that avoided all the usual safeguards.

I smoked several doobies while waiting late one evening in the dark, quiet kitchen. (this was like 35 years ago, folks).

I heard him searching.

I waited with the flashlight in my left and pistol in my right.

Slowly raised both and aimed at the noise.

Flipped-on the flash, BAM!

Jayzus Crast, that was ****** loud!

Ears ringing. Flash-blinded. Outside the dogs were barking and the goats were bleating and the chickens variously clucking and crowing. Wife awaken from sound sleep, cursing like a sailor (I should know, I taught her).

Lit a lantern and found the little bastard by the stove.

Not worth it.

Hadn't gone mouse hunting, but did go cockroach hunting when I worked off-shore. Remind me to tell you the story some day MM.

When I hunt the mice I lay out a piece of news paper conventional spring trap on center. The bait attached to the trap with atwist-tie... a piece of toast smeared in coagulated suet. Deadly lure works every time, no house mouse can resist the greese.

One ran into a piece of pipe in my shop so I hooked the rosebud tip on the oxy-acetylene torch and shot the flame in the pipe. I laughed my a$$ off at the little bundle of flame that ran out the other end.
