Should I Run or Bike Today?

Trying to decide, run 5 or bike 12-15?

Temp: 18F, wind 5mph, time 4:30p, half the route covered in 1" snow, half clear with spots of ice.

I've found that ice and bikes don't work together

run kuan, run.. no, really. you said you had issues with breathing in cold air. biking will require heavier breathing and it's even colder right now. since it's prob dark, may also consider the lenght (time) of each activity..

"biking's easier on the joints"

Unless you fall on them.

Studded tires? Wish I'd had them. Do they make tire chains for bikes

Run, your bike might not survive too long in Antarctic weather.

Stay home by the fire, sipping some adult beverage.

Would that depend on if you are the pitcher or the receiver?

What are you trying to accomplish? I bike for fun and run to train. If it's a rest day or I'm just feeling lousy, I'll bike. If I'm strong and need the "real deal" I run.

Well I did both. Ran four then took the bike to the lake. It's freaky beautiful man, the lights reflect off the fresh snow and you don't even need a light.

John: Right now I just wanna ease into winter running and maintain fitness. I'm the opposite of you. I do these 3-4 mile slow runs to recover. Biking is where I push hard, or harder.

Ted: Almost the exact same conditions here.

PS: No problems with breathing since that one time.

Going to see a doc next week to find out what's wrong.
The sports doc who just scoped my knee considers bicycling a very healthy activity as far as knees are concerned, certainly more so than running. A trip to the doc sounds like a pretty sound notion.

Hopefully, it isn't a cartilage issue. I could hike for 10 miles no problem before my knee was scoped, but riding my bicycle was impossibly painful.
