Juan or Juanma?

Not to be confused with the movie Glen or Glenda...

Could someone please inform me of the typical name usage of Juan vs. Juanma?
Juan, I understand to be a typical male name, but what is Juanma?

Is that like Jon to Jonathan?
Is it used as a separate name like James compared to Jamie. I know a Jamie who is just that, not a James; or is it typically a feminine name, even more removed from Juan?

Along the same lines, does anyone have a great hotel to recommend in Puerto Rico for a business trip? I don't speak any Spanish and will be playing it very safe.

Many Thanks,
