This peak is then used to make the slight correction necessary to bring the crystal oscillator and hence the microwave field exactly on frequency. This locked frequency is then divided by 9,192,631,770 to give the familiar one pulse per second required by the real world.

Now I know how my wrist watch keeps accurate time! Except for the part about it satellite uplinking every morning about 0400 to reset itself to the atomic clock.

But seriously, I am not addicted. See, I'm going to quit. Although, when this site was down, I was having a sort of withdrawls. I would check every 10-15 minutes to see if it had come back up.
