Saudi Billionaire Boasts of Manipulating Fox News Coverage
December 7, 2005

WASHINGTON -- Accuracy in Media (AIM) is urging a full inquiry into a report that a Saudi billionaire caused the Fox News Channel (FNC) to dramatically alter its coverage of the Muslim riots in France after he called the network to complain. The Saudi billionaire, Al-waleed bin Talal, is a friend of News Corporation chairman Rupert Murdoch and controls an influential number of voting shares in the company.

"This report underscores the danger of giving foreign interests a significant financial stake in U.S. media companies," declared Cliff Kincaid, editor of Accuracy in Media.....

....reports that Al-waleed, who is a member of the Saudi Royal Family and investor in the Fox News parent company News Corporation, gave an interview boasting that he had called Fox to complain about coverage of the "Muslim riots" in France. He said he "called as a viewer" and "convinced them to change" the coverage because "they were not Muslim riots but riots against poverty and inequality." And "they changed" the coverage, the Saudi reportedly said.

Another report on the comments, carried by the Dubai-based newspaper the Khaleej Times, says that Al-waleed personally called Rupert Murdoch to complain. The Saudi said, "After a short while, there was a change" in the coverage...

This is not the first time that Al-waleed has made controversial statements. His $10 million contribution to a 9/11 fund was rejected when he blamed the terror attacks on U.S. Middle East policy.

HEADS UP FOLKS

Because I am hard, you will not like me, but the more you hate me the more you will learn. I am hard but I am fair. There is no racial bigotry here! I do not look down on ******s, kikes, wops or greasers. Here you are all equally worthless!

Same observation as 15 of the 19. Why do you ask?

I convinced the NY Times to send Judith Miller to Libby's office for briefings.

I don't have anything against Muslims, but the fact is they pose the greatest threat to the U.S. today.

Exactly. But when you make an observation like that or what I did, you will get the question of "What do you have against (insert group here).

Maybe koop will ask us the question of "Why do you hate muslims?". :D

Well, see I really don't have a problem with it. I think that when dealing with them, we shouldn't throw common sense out the window. I mean geez, who would you worry about a little old lady from El Paso, or the 4 Middle Eastern men who are flying togather?

cmac2012 12-11-2005 02:54 AM

Who would'a thought Murdoch would veer from absolutey the most accurate coverage possible? Jeez, knock me over with a feather....

Great idea. You can start it yourself, BHD, by offering up some concrete examples. Hell, by your own admission you get the large majority of your information from FOX, a network that clearly supports, and whose reporters and talking-heads largely support, the war in Iraq. With all that corporate support, one would assume that FOX's broadcasts would be chock-full of positive Iraqi news. They're not. They offer little more positive information than any other television or radio outlet, or most newpapers. The difference is that these other outlets are more willing to report "the rest of the story", rather than coming back from commercial break to give the latest ad- nauseum non-update on Natalie Holloway or Terry Schiavo.

pick up any left wing publication....Like the NYT, or The Washington post for example....

how about NPR, CNN and CBS.....all they print or comment on is gloom adn doom.....and how we need to surrender to the terrorists now....only morons believe the lefty press about how bad its going....becasue thats what the DNC DEMANDS they say....of face the wrath of the DNC......Look at how they are pouncing on Joe Liberman...someone who ACTUALLY has been there...several times...unlike 99% of the blowhards demanding we surrender to AlQueda.
