I still see some of my old battle axes around town and give them chit whenever I can. My moment of glory was being Alum entrepreneur of the month for my HS.

I'd put plumbers pretty high up on the list. Can't have much of a civilization without reliable clean water delivery and without effective sewage removal, doctors would have too much to handle. Their pay is comensurate with their importance. There's a doctor/landlord on MrLandlord who claims it is cheaper for him to take a day off from the office and do his own plumbing repairs, than it is to work as a doctor all day and then pay the plumber.

It takes a village, lets not forget about that career gas station attendant that does a good job, or the down on his luck adult that got my Taco Bell order correct and handed it to me with a smile.

To be honest those are the people I really remember the ones that do a good job for jack squat for pay.....

So after thinking it through I think being a soldier/sailor/marine is the most noble profession.

Yeah! Someone finally got the right answer!

I'd say soldier.

Don't think so.

OK...if no one says it, I will. Lawyers.

Yes...lawyers.

I mean.

You get arrested for a DUI. Who do you call after your bailbondsman and your mother? Your lawyer.

Need to prosecute a particularly heinous criminal. Who do you call on? A prosecutor.

Your mechanic screws up and your precius Benz won't run? Who do you call? A lawyer.

Your favorite doctor screws up your operation and removes the wrong kidney. Who do you call? A lawyer.

Your kid's teacher makes your kid strip in fornt of all of her classmates because the teacher thinks that she stole someone's lunch money. Who do you call? A lawyer, of course.

Need to free a colony from the bonds of British oppression. What are the professions of most of the men leading the charge? Lawyers.

Need to write a Declaration of Independence or a Constitution. Who do you call on? DITTO!!!

Just a thought to ponder, next time you ar ready to "kill all the lawyers!"

why is your health insurance so high?........LAWYERS
Why does a doctor charge you an arm and a leg and does extra tests that are not needed just to protect his tail?........LAWYERS
What is a profession that REQUIRES lying for a living?..............LAWYERS

BUT, I also agree to the above.

I do not wish to start a debate about the relative merits of my profession.

But, the cost of health insurance is tied up to other things, besides lawsuits. In fact, the amount paid in lawsuits is negligible compared to the profits reaped by insurance carriers.

Doctors do run a lot of tests, I am not sure if they run unnecessary tests. Insurance companies will not pay for "unnecessary" procedures.

I agree about some lawyers lying. They do it on behalf of their clients who want a lawyer who wil llie for them. Criminal defense lawyers are specially prone to this.

if a lawyer is caught lying (perjury) he can lose his license to practice. A veryharsh penalty indeed.
