What am I?
I come from a machine that uses 5w-30 motor oil, Dot 4 brake fluid, antifreeze, Hypoid 80 weight gear oil and gasoline. When I drip on the snow redish/purple and freeze into a little ball. When I'm picked up from the snow and thawed I'm an almost clear odorless liquid.
What in the hell am I? |

If it is coming from a GM product, I'd be looking for a coolant drip/leak (if it is that cold down state).

Hmmm...thought GM was using that reddish colored Dexcool coolant for the last few years.
Is the quad water or air cooled? I still think it sounds like Dexcool coolant, or one of the other reddish varients out there (Toyota comes to mind). Might not be actually freezing but perhaps amalgamating with snow crystals, much like gold flakes do with a drop of mercury.

The coolant is Prestone green, could it be the brake fluid? |

It is obviously something that can freeze (how cold is it?). Colorless excludes the hypoid gear oil and I don't think brake fluid will freeze. Maybe a little blood (reddish color) and sweat? Could you possibly be getting some condensate off of something that is taking some dirt/grease with it initially?

Maybe condensate from the fuel system or crankcase (but that does not explain the reddish color). If it is condensate from the fuel system then the fuel could evaporate. What does it taste like? Give me a little time to try to remember what all is vented on these creatures.

It's a 4 stroke, I'm wondering if it's condensate from the fuel vent. Everything is vented on the new quads, well not the brakes but you know what I mean. the thing is a maze of vent and breather tubes.
