Am I the only one who doesnt get into christmas carols?

Let me start with this - I am a christian, I attend church regularly (thats all you need to do- right ? -LOL) just got on the church board, married to a wonderful girl who grew up in the same neighborhood as I. She has loving family who is more than tolerant of my family (divorced parents, 5 sibilings that dont always get along) and always treats me well simply because I am family. I think that kinda of selflessness is great, I wish I had more myself.

I dont like Christmas carols. I really dont like singing christmas carols that I've sung before.. Jingle bells, deck the halls - blah, please dont make me sit through them.

SOME innovative or uncommon christmas carols are acceptable (Still, still, still, Riu Riu Chiu, Mary Had a Baby, Betelehemu...) but generally, I hate christmas carols.
I make a big deal about this becuase I am in the church's choir, was in choir in HS and college, and generally enjoy singing (every other part of the year...) My wife loves to go caroling with our churchs and others, but I simply HATE having to sing those songs.

I guess in the process of writing this thread, I've learned something about myself, Christmas carols arent that bad, and I love my wife more than I hate singing carols - thats whats truly important. Actually, whats really important is that she knows I hate carols, so she tries to be extra loving when I put up with "silent night" becuase she knows I'm doing it for her =)
so feel free to let this thread fade away into page ">" if you wish, but just know that if "we wish you a merry christmas" sounds like it should have died with the muppets (muppets rock btw, but are now on the DVD shelf only) then you are not alone =)

-John

I'm going caroling in Old Towne Alexandria VA next Sunday. We'll be walking the sidewalks singing for anyone who wishes to listen, then heading back to a friend's house for food and cheer afterward.

I like Chirstmas carols!

I don't sing...I play.

I get invited to LOTS of Christmas parties because the old dusty piano that sits unused in some corner of the parlor finally comes to life around Christmas!

I learned nearly every Christmas carol (old and new) over the years, and people have fun singing carols around the piano...especally when the drinks are flowing!

I like Christmas Carols. I especially like reharmonizing them. People at first freak out when they hear a minor 9th in Jingle Bells but then come to realize it's pretty cool after the second time around!

I don't mind radio stations that include a few, in their format, in the station's playlist, but I generally skip the "All Christmas Tunes, All the Time" stations that convert their format for the weeks between Thanksgiving and December 25th. I do get a chuckle at the Streisand, Diamond and Manilow "Christmas" recordings . . . but not as much as the occasional Sandler's "Chanuka Song"

Christmas is getting tiresome. The massive crowds in the stores is really annoying. Also all of the Christmas playing on the radio and in stores is getting old. I can only take so much of it!

With kids it's a "damned if you do, damned if you don't scenario!

When they're younger, they ask for the "hot" toys...you know, the ones that you can't find without paying scalper's prices or where you have to stand in the freezing weather at 5AM so that you and 300 other people can stampede through the store to get that holy grail of an item!

When they get older, they ask for less, the items are readily available, but each item is expensive!

Howdy All,
If you need a little change from the same old songs try Bob Rivers. You can hear samples of his stuff on his website www.bobrivers.com or on Amazon. For the last 3 years we have been listening to him at work.
