Neeley, who spent two days in jail after her arrest last December, is among a growing number of Kentucky citizens charged in a crackdown on a crime that authorities say is rampant in Appalachia: Elderly people are reselling their painkillers and other medications to addicts.

"When a person is on Social Security, drawing $500 a month, and they can sell their pain pills for $10 apiece, they'll take half of them for themselves and sell the other half to pay their electric bills or buy groceries," Floyd County jailer Roger Webb said.

This is why! When little old ladies are going to jail so should he!

Tookie murdered at least 4 people....likely did more but he was convicted of 4, he was NO model prisoner...he was the architect of untold suffering at the hands of his gang....

he was convicted....all his appeals upheld it...the left wing 9th district courts upheld it....yet he has wackos demanding he was innocent....

yet the very same people get their panties in an knot over Rush.....and most of them are the same people arguing for legalization of drugs.....most medicare fraud isn't little old ladies.....its crooked doctors...

This is the media condensed version of the ruling. There is much more to it, of that I am sure. However, a discussion with prosecutors is very different from testimony in court and the public release of medical records.

You folks that want to see Rush go to jail for taking prescribed drugs should be careful what you wish for. Any relaxing of confidentiality rules regarding medical records could be very harmful for many honest people.

I would like to see him get the SAME, not less, not more than the average person who did the same crime.

Well, how does it affect those not going to see 5 doctors for the same script to stock up on drugs?

You like the idea of the state mucking around in your medical records? You would trust a prosecutor and her staff to keep them confidential? You think they wouldn't copy them and hand back the originals, whether or not a crime is ever charged?
